Community-Based Residential Treatment for Young Adults with Mental Illness

Established through the generosity of Sylvan C. Herman and the SC Herman Foundation, ClearView uses individualized mental health treatment and community integration to help young adults recover from serious mental illness. While living in one of our five residential homes and learning, working, and volunteering in the community, our patients learn the skills they need to regain their mental health and live as independently as possible.

A Person-Centered Mental Health Treatment Process

At ClearView, we understand that each resident brings valuable internal resources to the recovery process. We work using a person-centered approach to mental health treatment. Each resident collaborates with our skilled clinical care team to develop a customized psychiatric rehabilitation plan that matches their recovery goals.

Drawing on the strengths of the individual and the team, plans may include daily individualized therapy, multiple weekly meetings with a psychiatrist, therapeutic and psychoeducational groups, and meetings with an employment specialist. Depending upon individual needs and desires, plans may include competitive employment, enrollment in university classes, and/or volunteering with local organizations.

ClearView does not use a “readiness model” with regard to community inclusion. We honor and support our residents’ intentions to work, attend school, and/or volunteer in the community at any point along the way.

Intensive Supervision and Community Connection

ClearView Communities’ mission centers on providing a superior therapeutic residential treatment experience for people with serious mental illness and co-occurring disorders. We offer intensive supervision and maintain a 4:1 staff to resident ratio, awake overnight staff, and 40 hours per week of on-site psychiatric and clinical services. A physician is on call 24 hours per day/7 days per week.

ClearView residences are beautiful, spacious, and homey. Our residents enjoy all the amenities of life in a thriving town center—from shops, parks, and the arts to community activities—all with a friendly, hometown feel. ClearView provides transportation to residents for work, school, appointments, and shopping.
