Transitional Residential Treatment for Adults with Mental Illness

Gateway Homes, Inc., provides a transitional residential treatment program for adults age 18 and older with serious mental illness whose goal is to live as independently as possible. Every resident receives at least two hours of individual skills training and counseling and approximately 15-20 hours of social, psychological, and vocational rehabilitation each week.

At Gateway, our goal is to help individuals with psychiatric conditions such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and clinical depression to develop the psychological, social, and behavioral skills necessary to move toward recovery from their mental illness and maintain a lifestyle that is of their choosing.

Three Levels of Residential Mental Health Care

In our self-paced program, adults in need of psychiatric services move through three levels of care, transitioning to more independent living as their mental health stabilizes and they experience personal growth.

Level 1 Licensed Assisted Living

  • All residents start here
  • Intensive Care Unit
  • 24-hour supervision

 Level 2 Apartment Living

  • Apartment living on campus
  • Residential care staff available 14 hours per day

 Level 3 Community living

  • Setting chosen by the resident
  • Supportive mental health care available on a need basis

Our 40-acre campus provides congregate living for 16 individuals and apartments for 25 individuals. The community placements are not limited but are determined based upon the individual’s choice. Once an individual progresses to the community, he or she may continue to receive psychiatric services from Gateway’s psychosocial mental health rehabilitation program and outpatient clinic as desired..
